We are GE

Our Vision: We will work towards the gradual, although quick, replacement of fossil energy; the minimization of energy use; and the maximization of renewable energy generation without damaging ecosystems.

Our Mission: To achieve our vision we will advocate/provide resources to conserve energy in area of greatest impact and to actively produce and provide resources for local renewable energy generation.

***This will take time and effort from all of us to get off the ground. The reward will be a sustainable future we can all be proud of. The time is now, this time is ours!

Thank you Elaine, that is a great video which I will circulate to the ITO membership and place on our own web site, too.

Hello Everyone

The following 16 minute animated NFB video shows how past planning practices created sprawl and increases in Green House Gas emissions and how smart growth policies can help to address these and other problems. It's easy to understand as well as humourous.  Enjoy and pass along to your friends and neighbours.

Electric vehicles become reality in BC.
BCHydro News, 4 Nov 2011

An excellent newsletter from BC Hydro.  After browsing the EV plans for BC, have a look at the options for energy rebates on new or renovated housing, including solar incentives.

Hi All, I received this email. Definitely a great opportunity to get the group helping on a project.

he Victoria chapter of the BC Sustainable Energy Assn. wants to build a solar oven for use as a demonstration at the public events it attends.  It would also serve as a practical project for making something concrete that reflects our values of using renewable sources of energy.  This won’t be a huge project but could involved 3 – 5 people in various ways: research on design, procuring the materials, and building the oven.  If you are interested, please contact Michael Nation, Victoria chapter Steering Cttee member,  fentart@yahoo.com

Sorry to hear that you would be unable to lead the Energy Group, Dana; but, do stay tuned.  In the meantime, have we got anyone else who has the energy to take on Energy?

Hi Everyone... Well I have moved out of the Victoria area... I am now in Port Alberni... so being a hands on active member with the group won't be happening... but would still love to continue to listen in and participate remotely as possible.  I am really in the learning stages of Green Energy.  So want to learn as much as possible about our options, potential and possibilities that are truly sustainable on the planet.
