Debt is on the rise in Canada and far exceeds income in a majority of households. 

How did we get to this point where we believe we can borrow from the future to pay for today – or buy now so our children can pay tomorrow?  This is not sustainable.

Taken together, peak oil and climate change mean that an overall reduction in energy use is required. We need to adapt our lifestyles and communities to a way of life with less energy… and we need to do it fast.  

The current economic climate also suggests we are better off to save money, to simplify our lives, and to spend less.  Transition offers us a way of exploring solutions together – a way of adapting our lifestyles to create a better world.
