Transition Victoria

The Linen Project

↓ Scroll down to see the story in pictures and a few words.

An initiative of Transition Victoria's Reskilling Working Group: to learn and practice the skills and processes needed to produce linen fibre from flax seed.
If you only view the Slide Show you will not see the brief descriptions of the processes I have posted below the photos. If you want to learn what is going on in each picture I suggest you scroll through one photo at a time.

Love to talk more about the plan for our little flax growing experiment here at the studio .. It will be a great little installation and time to share about the linen project, trans. Vic and a few other great community based programmes in town ..  looking forward to talking with you on the phone or have a cup of tea here would be great too.

Hi Shylene,

I e-mailed you about a couple of weeks ago about being involved with your idea, and haven't heard back from you.   Ken, Barb, Billy, Brian and myself have the retted flax, tools and Ken has the info pannels that his wife Denise made.  I am the one of the processors, spinner and weaver of linen thread from the flax.

Hello Linen team ..

does any one know who has access to all the tools, info on the process?

How about the information panels I see here in many of the pictures? '

love to re-use these information panels in the flax install on Hillside this spring/summer..

What a great slide show! It truly gives an appreciation of the whole (labour-intensive) process and the enjoyment of the participants. Thanks for making it available, Denise!
